MY STORY
As a six-month old infant, I was taken to the hospital due to a case of pneumonia. I was given a chest x-ray to verify the diagnosis and when the doctors reviewed the films it was discovered that I had a cancerous tumor on my lungs (Neuroblastoma).
I was one of the fortunate kids with this disease as the doctors caught it early and that I lived near a pediatric cancer center at Children's Memorial Hospital in Chicago. If not for the "luck" of getting pneumonia and living near Chicago, I am certain that I wouldn't be here today.
The surgery, chemotherapy and radiation took a great toll on my body and the will of my family. My mother always said that I was "God's child" and through enough prayers and great doctors I was able to defeat cancer at a young age. This fighting spirit was instilled in me at an early age. Finally after having yearly check-ups for the next twenty years, I was able to grow out of the fear of any reoccurrence.
Please support me with a donation to the St. Baldrick's Foundation. This volunteer-driven charity funds more in childhood cancer research grants than any organization except the U.S. government.
Your gift will give hope to infants, children, teens and young adults fighting childhood cancers. So when I ask for your support, I'm really asking you to support these kids. Thank you!
