Hello,
My name is Liam and I am 9 years old. I have wanted to participate in St. Baldrick's for a few years now. A good friend of mine, Andrew, did it when i was younger and I thought it was so awesome, I couldn't wait to participate myself. It is very upsetting to me that there are kids just like me who have to spend their time fighting this terrible disease instead of being able to play outside or just do nothing or even go to school. I really wanted to do something. This makes me feel like I am doing more that just feeling terrible though. By participating in this event I can do something to help. Please help me help these kids. I have never shaved my head completely before and it makes me a little nervous, but I know that if these kids can do it, i can do it too. I hope people ask me why I shaved my head, it will give me a chance to tell them about how much help these kids need our help. Below is a pre-written letter that might give you a little more information. Thanks for taking the time to read this.
I've answered the call to be a hero! I'm having my head shaved to stand in solidarity with kids fighting cancer, but more importantly, to raise money to find cures. I may be a one-shavee show, but I'll be just as bald – and I hope you'll cheer me on with a donation! The St. Baldrick's Foundation is a volunteer-driven charity that funds more in childhood cancer research grants than any organization except the U. S. government. Your gift will give hope to infants, children, teens and young adults fighting childhood cancers. So when I ask for your support, I'm really asking you to support these kids. Thank you!
