I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research with: S.M.I.L.E. (Students making Impacts through Love & Empathy)

Cancer has lurked in the lives of my loved ones ever since I can remember. I have been lucky enough to be raised by two extraordinary cancer survivors- my mom and dad, although cancer has claimed the lives of other family members. From middle school, I have volunteered for the American Cancer Society in their Daffodil Days campaign, but I have never thought about doing something as drastic as shaving my head. After joining S.M.I.L.E., however, and seeing first-hand, children at Dell's Children's Hospital battling diseases, I have been touched to do something personally. St. Baldrick's is giving me the opportunity to do something extraordinary! St. Baldrick's is a volunteer based organization dedicated to finding cures for pediatric cancer. They are hosting a head shaving event on March 31st in front of the UT Tower and I am proud to say I will be one of the shavee's! It is an amazing cause and knowing that I can help a child with cancer feel reinforced and understand that I am shaving my head for them will be the most fulfilling thing I have done thus far in my life. Whether you are in support of my motivation to help children, admire the cajones I am showing to shave all the hair off my head, or just want to end cancer, donating to St. Baldrick's is quick and easy. Just click on the blue "Donate" button on the top right of this page or click "Make a Donation" under my picture. I appreciate your thought and generosity if you donate $1 or $100. Every dollar is a step toward finding a cure! Thank you all so much.

Sincerely, Vicky
