I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research with: Team Karla and Becky

Dear Family and Friends, A few years ago, we each cut off eight inches of our hair and donated it to Pantene Beautiful Lengths. This program makes and donates real-hair wigs to women fighting cancer. Over the past year, we have been growing out our hair to make this donation again. However, this year, we are taking it a step further. Not only will we donate our hair to Beautiful Lengths to help make another wig, but we will also be shaving our heads for St. Baldrick’s to help raise money for cancer research. We will be representing Hersey High School in this amazing event and shaving our heads in front of the entire staff and student body. One of Karla’s best friends recently battled cancer (she is in partial remission), and a beloved teacher at our school lost her battle to cancer this year. One of Becky’s cousins, Randy, was diagnosed with an aggressive cancerous brain tumor known as acute intrinsic pontine glioma in January 2003 at eight years old. That evil illness stole this amazing, talented, upbeat little boy’s ability to grow up and enjoy life like any other child. He fought with immense courage through many treatments until he lost his battle on February 22, 2004. He was robbed of his life, and we were robbed of the chance to watch him grow into the amazing man he would have been. We can go on and on with the people we know that have either battled cancer, or have lost their battle with cancer, but we would like to do something to honor all of them. We would love to raise at least $5,000 for St. Baldrick’s this year. Please join us in our fight against this terrible disease, and help us reach our goal by forwarding this letter to anyone that might be interested in donating. Please do not feel obligated but every penny counts! Karla and Becky
