I remember the first time I saw my babies. They were the most beautiful tiny people I had ever met. As a pediatrician and a father, however, I immediately thought of every possible thing that could go wrong for them. Fortunately, none of those fears came to pass. The kids are healthy and happy, and getting ready for their first birthday.

I realize all to well, however, how extraordinarily lucky we are. Because sometimes our worst fears turn out to be real. As a son, son-in-law, grandson, nephew and friend, I've seen way too many people close to me diagnosed with cancer. I'm pretty sure almost everyone reading this can say the same thing. But I can't imagine what it would be like, to be the father of a child diagnosed with cancer. With that in mind, I've decided to try to help prevent that from happening to me or any other parent in the future.

A diagnosis of childhood cancer could be made in any family with children, at anytime, anywhere. In the US, more children die of childhood cancer than any other disease. Because of that reality, and to honor my children, and my family members and friends who have fought and are fighting cancer, I will be shaving my head to help raise money for the St. Baldrick's Foundation. The St. Baldrick's Foundation funds more childhood cancer research grants than any organization except the United States Government.

I am humbly asking for your financial support for this great cause and would ask that you respond as generously as you are able. Every dollar that you donate will increase the chances of finding a cure for childhood cancer, and decrease the number of kids who lose their lives to this disease.
