For over a decade people recognize me from afar when they see my hair. I am the girl with the curly, sometimes pretty, sometimes frizzy but easily identifiable hair. When most people get diagnosed with cancer, losing their hair is one of the primary concerns. I am doing this because when you are a child or teenager with cancer you have enough worries and I want to join them in saying I am me, I am alive and I am strong even without my hair. We will find cures and if all it takes is me shaving my head to help, I will. You heard it right - I'm shaving my head in solidarity with children who have cancer and typically lose their hair during treatment, while raising critical funds for childhood cancer research! In the US, more children die of childhood cancer than any other disease.
