Shaving my head is a much smaller price than any of these children pay. I only wish I could do more. I am a proud member of a group known as the "Spirit Jumpers". It was through them that I found this little girl...just a little older than my eldest child. Her name was Samantha Hartsfield...and she was a beautiful soul. For months I followed along (and sent cards, etc. when I could) and watched as she, her parents, family and friends were tormented by the way Osteosarcoma ravaged her body. I wish that I had lived closer...and that I had been able to do something to help her. I knew some of what they were feeling...as my mother in law passed away after cancer had ravaged her body. I had taken care of her before her death...all the while watching...paralyzed and unable to stop the disease. I can't even fathom losing one of my children, much less to lose them in such a manner. If I can only raise $50 then so be it. That's $50 more towards making sure that no one ever has to go through this again.
