If I raise $10,000, I WILL SHAVE MY HEAD on April 17, 2011 in honor of my niece, Taylor Tagatac!
She made my dreams come true, I want to help make her dreams come true…
My niece, Taylor, is currently at Kapiolani Medical Center for Women and Children recovering from her bone marrow transplant. Her father, my brother, was her donor. She's been in isolation since Feb. 2, 2011, so we haven't been able to visit her. She is register for the event @ http://www.stbaldricks.org/kids/taylort.
Because of Taylor, my dreams have come true. She was diagnosed with AML in May 2008. She is the reason I moved to Hawaii. Once my brother and his wife's FMLA was exhausted after 3 months, they had to go back to work and needed help with balancing home, work, and Taylor's in-stay hospital treatments. So, in 3 days, I sold most of my things and put the rest of my belongings at my parent's house and was out here to help them.
I would stay at the hospital with her while she received treatment and when she was home, I would help her with her homework. I always dreamed about having a family of my own, but it just didn't seem like it was going to happen, so I dubbed Taylor my pseudo daughter. She means a lot to me. Since I was living with them, I met Todd (in 2008), their neighbor. Todd is currently my fiance, and father of my daughter, Victoria Lynn.
Two things....1) if it wasn't for Taylor, I wouldn't have move out here, met Todd, and had a family of my own. 2) If it wasn't for Taylor, I wouldn't have helped her with her homework and I wouldn't have found my passion of teaching. I am currently enrolled in the graduate program at HPU to become an Elementary School teacher.
Taylor helped me make my dreams come true. I want to help make her dreams come true. We need to find a cure for cancer so she can grow her hair back, go back to school with her friends, and go surfing again with her father, my brother, Frank.
If you have ever had a passion for something, then support me in honor of Taylor and all the other kids out there that have cancer. These kids deserve to have their dreams come true, too.
