I shaved to raise money for childhood cancer research with: Cristi's Little Warriors

Hello family and friends, "A genuine leader is not a searcher for consensus but a molder of consensus." -Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. I believe that in order to be a leader, you must lead others by example and show, rather than preach, what is important to you. I know a lot of women may support this cause by donating or supporting friends or family who are participating by being a shavee. I want to shave my head to encourage other females so that they are not afraid to do the same thing. It may be hard, but it is just hair and it will grow back. Yes, it will take a while but the cause is well worth it. I have been contemplating doing this for over a year, and the time has finally come! I have made the decision to shave my head and donate my hair for children, teens and young adults with cancer. However, I need your support and help to meet my goal of raising $500! Your money will go toward cancer research. I can not do this without the support of each and every one of you! It is definitely a bold move to shave my head, and some may ask why bother when you could just simply donate your hair? I want to shave my head because no one should have to go through cancer, especially children. I want to be able to have just a small sense of what these kids are going through. To an extent, I never will (and hope I never will) know what these kids go through, but I can say that I fought for my life when I was a baby. These kids are fighting for their lives too. I believe these kids are some of the strongest and bravest individuals on this planet and I am only showing a slight hint of bravery by shaving my head as compared to what they are going through. One of my favorite quotes is this: “I want to inspire people. I want someone to look at me and say, ‘because of you I didn’t give up’". I want to inspire these kids to not lose hope and to keep fighting. Some may call it crazy, but I am extremely happy (and slightly nervous) with this decision, but it is something I want to experience. There's no other place I would like to experience this that at THE University of Texas at Austin, right in front of the tower! I've answered the call to be a hero! I'm having my head shaved to stand in solidarity with kids fighting cancer, but more importantly, to raise money to find cures. Please support me with a donation to the St. Baldrick's Foundation. This volunteer-driven charity funds more in childhood cancer research grants than any organization except the U.S. government. Your gift will give hope to infants, children, teens and young adults fighting childhood cancers. So when I ask for your support, I'm really asking you to support these kids. Thank you!
