Cancer...this disease has affected me on many levels. I lost my Mom to cancer when I was 4. I lost my sister to cancer a few years ago. We have had close friend like Aimee Reeves who's son Jackson was diagnosed shortly after birth with leukemia. He was born just a month after our Robbie. Aimee and Amberly went through pregnancy sharing stories and experiences of having the bond of their being pregnant at the same time. We had thoughts of having these boys know each other through out life parents being friends and they being born at the same time. However, Jackson lost his battle just after his second birthday. This could just as easily been us. We just got lucky. I cannot imagine a day without my kids and it still makes a guy like me break down to think of the heartbreak and pain that comes from losing a child and continuing with your life. The strength it must take for so many parents to survive the loss of a child is mind numbing. So what I'm asking of you is to give a $1, $5, $20 or whatever moves you! One of the reasons that I choose St. Baldrick's every year is because more money goes to research than any other Cancer Charity. Thanks and in case you are interested, here is where the money actually goes: Of every dollar raised, 79.5% funds research to find a cure, 17.7% goes to fundraising (website, phones, postage, printing, t-shirts, office space, staff, etc.) and 2.8% goes to administration (accounting, distributing and monitoring grants, etc.).
