My Story

Alyssa woke up one morning and couldn't walk. Her leg hurt so bad. We thought it was growing pains but when it persisted we took her to the doctor. A few months and a couple misdiagnoses later we learned the truth. Alyssa had a tumor in her femur. It was a rare cancer called Ewing Sarcoma. She had almost a year of treatment which consisted of 5 surgeries, 115 doses of chemo, 9 blood transfusions, 7 platelet transfusions and more than 68 nights spent in the hospital. During one those surgeries they removed 2/3 of her femur and hip ball and replaced it with titanium and cobalt Her treatment worked! Today Alyssa is almost 16 years old and 4 years NED. She is a 4.0 student, on her high school swim team and part of National Honor Society. Her dream is to be an oncology nurse practitioner so she can help kids like her. By sharing the gifts of your time, talent and money with the St. Baldrick’s Foundation, you're supporting research to give all kids with cancer a better chance for a cure.
