My Story

Super Sammy was diagnosed with stage 4 neuroblastoma on July 3rd 2013 after days of being ill and seeking medical attention. He endured 6 rounds of chemo, surgery in which he lost he left kidney, an autologous bone marrow transplant, 14 rounds of radiation and finally ch14.18 antibody therapy with accutane. During his bone marrow transplant he developed VOD and became critically ill and spent two weeks in the ICU. Antibody therapy also sent him to the ICU for days at a time. At the end of therapy Sammy started to rebound and regain his energy and happy disposition. On November 7th he was declared NED (no evidence of disease). He relapsed within a year and in May 2017, only weeks shy of his five year diagnosis anniversary, he passed away. He fought with such bravery and strength, and he will be so deeply missed and forever loved.
