My Story

My daughter Mariah whom is 7 yrs old, was diagnosed with Burkitt's Lymphoma on Oct.11th 2013 at 11pm at the Morris Hospital. She had a 12 cm tumor in her stomach and a 6cm mass in her right lung. They transferred us to Lurie's Children's Hospital in Chicago,IL at 2am. So as soon as we got here at Children's , Dr. Robert Liam was the doctor on for the weekend and by 9am on Saturday, Mariah was down in THe O.R. and she was getting a biopsy of the tumor to make sure it was Burkitt's Lymphoma, and it was. She also got bone marrow taken and also they checked the spinal fluids and THANK GOODNESS it was not in either. Dr. Liam in my book is the best doctor ever he is the one that got the ball rolling, this cancer is a fast growing, but it also kills fast. So she started chemo on Sunday night. This is the scariest thing my family has ever had to experience. She is a fighter and she is responding well to the treatment, but it is a long road and bumpy road bumpy, but she is a DIVA and she will beat this.
