My Story

Carter Joseph Bucciero is a beautiful blond haired, brown-eyed little boy. At just 2.5, he is a happy and vibrant - full of love and laughter. Nothing ever prepared us to hear that he had an Astrocytoma brain tumor growing in the thalamus and hypothalamus of his brain. It is an inoperable tumor due to the location and radiation is not advised until he turns three years old at the end of May, 2012. Carter was diagnosed in October of 2011 and then sent to St. Jude in Memphis for treatment. After under-going two rounds of chemotherapy, an MRI revealed that the tumor had grown and significant pressure on his brain. Emergency shunt surgery was done to relieve the pressure. Carter is now on a different protocol of chemo and we're praying that it will buy him time until he turns three to start radiation. Carter loves to play and be silly, school buses, Bojangles, his big brother Mason, soccer, and just about everything else imaginable. Most importantly, Carter loves giving hugs.
