My Story

Hello, my name is Lacey Rose King. I was born March 16, 2009 to Alexander and Elanda King. I am Zuni, San Ildefonso, Santo Domingo, and Choctaw. I live with my parents at San Ildefonso Pueblo. Things that make me happy are playing with my dog Coco, watching my favorite shows’ Yo Gabba Gabba, Sponge Bob Square Pants, Fresh Beat Band and watching Wizard of Oz. I like to eat vegetables, fruits and drink soy milk. In the evenings, I like to play in the yard, helping my parents with the garden, and spending time with my family. Last year on August 9, 2010, I was diagnosis with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia at the University of New Mexico Children’s Hospital. Since then, I have been undergoing chemotherapy at UNMH and will continue until November 12, 2012. If there are not any complications with my treatment plan, I will be in remission. Currently, my family and I commute into Albuquerque for my routine exams, chemotherapy treatments and routine spinal taps. My hair is starting to grow back and same with my eyebrows and eye lashes and I’m regaining my energy back. Otherwise, I am an active 2 year old who is learning how to count, say my colors and explore the world. I would like to thank everyone for their time, thoughts and prayers throughout my recovery.
