Madison, was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) just before her 3rd birthday on March 6, 2007. Madison courageously battled Leukemia for 2 years and 2 months and on May 7, 2009, Madison received what we though would be her last does of CHEMO.
However on October 13, 2010, our world was once again shattered. Our worst nightmare became a reality when it was confirmed that Madison has come out of remission and was later confirmed that she has come down with Leukemia for a second time. Given how well she responded the first time, and a 10% chance of this happening to her again we are shocked beyond words... devastated. We cannot even begin to describe this feeling, but it's somehow much worse than the first time. This time Madison tested positive for the extremely rare Philadelphia Chromosome Gene. We are trying hard to get past the despair and find the strength and optimism we need to make it through the long, long road ahead.
On February 10, 2011, Madison received a Bone Marrow Transplant from her younger sister, Hannah. Madison is resting and doing well at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. (CHOP)
