My Story

Jack McGuire, age 10, passed away Thursday, March 29, 2007 after an inspiring, courageous six year fight with Leukemia. He died peacefully at Columbia-Presbyterian Hospital with his parents by his side. Along with his twin sister, Kate, Jack was born on December 8, 1996 to Dennis and Janet (Mitchell) McGuire. He is also survived by his beloved older sister, Claire, age 14. Both Kate and Claire displayed enormous love, courage and support through Jack's illness. Jack touched the lives of so many people and taught us about bravery, on a level that most adults will never approach. Whether you knew Jack his whole life or had just met him, you were equally impressed by his character and composure. He handled his illness with grace and dignity, never complaining and always accepting. To everyone that has supported Jack and his family- friends, acquaintances, care givers and even strangers- we will forever be grateful.
