My Story

After 3.5 months of unusual pains, at age 4, Aoife was diagnosed with AML in November of 2009. She spent the next 6 1/2 months in treatment at St. Vincent Hospital. Aoife is blessed to have a sister who is 20 mos. younger and who was by her side nearly everyday. Together the girls pretended to be princesses, dinosaurs, fairies and unicorns. They spent countless hours playing with ponies and kitties. With her sister at her side, spending months of isolation in a hospital room was full of fun memories. In May of 2010 Aoife developed a cardiomyopothy, as a result of the chemo and she was transported to the ICU Children's Hospital in Milwaukee for a week. Her younger sister and brother had stay behind. Fortunately things improved and Aoife was able to return to St. Vincent Hospital and to her siblings. She was released from the hospital in June of 2010. Currently Aoife is in remission and we continue to pray each and every day for her to body to continue to heal and for her to stay in remission.
