My Story

Mattea's beautiful life began on May 10, 2006. Nine weeks later, on July 14, 2006, she was diagnosed with a posterior fossa brain tumor that was the size of a golf ball. We immediately left for Chicago to seek help at Children's Memorial Hospital. Exactly 6 days later, we were given the devastating news that her tumor was classified as ATRT (Atypical Teratoid Rhabdoid Tumor). This was not only cancerous, but also rare and almost always fatal. After 15 months of treatment, including systemic and intrathecal chemotherapy, with cranial radiation, we are proud to announce that Mattea has NO EVIDENCE of DISEASE more than 6 years POST-TREATMENT! Our bubbly and beautiful BALDIE is NO LONGER bald thanks to charities like this one. Please donate in her BEAUTIFUL HONOR!!!
