2013- Kristen's cancer continues to remain in a STABLE state which means it is neither growing nor spreading - YIPPEE!! She now goes in quarterly to Sloan Kettering in NYC for routine scans and tests to make sure her cancer is behaving.....
As an almost 5 year old, Kristen enjoys the same things that most non-cancer affected kids enjoy - pre-school, ballet, coloring, TV,( especially Jake and the Neverland Pirates) and playing with her friends! She is a loving, joyful child who always likes to be in CHARGE! We are grateful she is leading a normal life and hope that one day she will hear those wonderful words "your cancer is gone"!
2012 - STABLE is the buzz word for the previous year for our little girl Kristen. While her neuroblastoma lesions are still ever present in her body, the scans and tests reveal that they are neither growing or spreading; thus they are "stable". Since she still has cancer in her body, it may spread at anytime. We are fortunate and grateful that in the past year she has been able to lead a somewhat "normal" life. She attends nursery school, takes ballet lessons and is potty trained. She enjoys playing with her dolls, coloring and doing whatever her big sisters are doing. She also enjoys playing with the family's new puppy! Oh, and she likes to be the Boss!
2011- It's been another year of highs and lows but thankfully, the highs have outweighed the lows! It has been almost two years since beautiful baby Kristen was diagnosed with Neuroblastoma. In the last 2 years Kristen has undergone 12 rounds of chemo , 6 rounds of accutane and 3 major surgeries with extended hospital stays. She has had more tests, blood work and pokes and prods in the last few years, than most people will have in a lifetime. Currently, the family is thrilled with the news that the past 3 series of scans and tests have revealed the cancer to be unchanged. In the world of cancer, stable, is a great thing! Since Kristen is feeling pretty well these days, she enjoys all the fun things most 3 year olds like to do. She likes to color, play hide and seek, tend to her dolls and do generally whatever her two big sisters are doing! She has graduated to a "big girl" bed and will start a toddler program one day a week shortly. Her life right now is fairly normal but at a moments notice, her life could be turned upside down by the ravages of the cancer that remains in her body. Better treatments and ultimately a cure needs to be found, not just for Kristen but for all those battling cancer. You can help by making a donation to St. Baldricks. Your donation, no matter how large or small, will make a difference. Increased research is the only way to offer better treatments and hopefully eventually a real cure!
