My Story

Geoffrey Scott Ogden is a happy, energetic and exciting five year old. He loves to play baseball and has been hitting balls out of the yard for a couple of years now. He loves to watch Spongebob Squarepants and Scooby-Doo most of all, but also enjoys other shows. He also likes to play with his many pets, including Boudreaux, Vinnie, Fred, and Doug. He likes Tonkas and Matchbox cars. Currently he is enrolled in pre-school, but is excited about getting into kindergarten next year. He's growing up so fast. Geoffrey was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) on Monday, January 19th. His mother and I had noticed some peculiar bruising and weird spots on his backside and decided to take him in for an examination. As we look back at on the past few weeks, he was displaying almost all of the classic symptoms of ALL. His pediatrician looked at him, ordered blood-work and then sent us directly to Children's hospital. We were met in the Emergency department by two of the attending oncologists who confirmed that he does have ALL. That news was very tough to hear, but we were reassured that it is the most common form of leukemia and it is very treatable.
