My Story

Garrett was active in Boy Scouts, a straight "A" student and a very true friend. He was always thinking of others, be it is brother or sister or his friends that he met along his journey. Garrett always thought that he would beat his cancer, always had a good outlook, but most importantly he wanted to be a "normal kid," At the time that Garrett was diagnosed there was not that many activities that cancer kids were allowed to do because they did not have the resources to make sure the activities were safe for them. Garrett asked about this and wanted to make sure that there were activities not only for the cancer kids that he had made friends with, but for all of the families that had been affected by a childhood cancer diagnosis. He wanted to have fun, be a normal kid. Unfortunately he was not able to win his battle against cancer, but his idea still lives on in that we have created Garrett's KidStrong in the Austin area. His determination of being a normal kid will continue until we do have a cure for childhood cancer through Garrett's KidStrong. We strongly support St. Baldrick's in their efforts to finance a cure for childhood cancer and you will see Garrett's KidStrong at Dell Children's Medical Center supporting your efforts.
