My Story

Katie is a bubbly, artistic, athletic nine year old. She has many interests and talents including tennis, guitar, art and dance. She was enjoying her last week of summer vacation in August of 2007 when a low grade fever led her to the pediatrician and later to the hospital. The diagnosis was ALL,  acute lymphoblastic leukemia. Since that time, Katie has been able to make the best of a difficult situation. She is grateful for the support of her friends and neighbors and is especially fond of her caregivers at Brenner Children's Hospital.

Katie attended North Carolina State University and received a BS in human biology and an MS in physiology. She is currently applying to medical school and works as an advocate for childhood cancer patients. She recently met with US house congressional teams to promote the Give Kids a Chance Act.
