My Story

Grace was born with a syndrome that put her at high risk for abdominal cancer. Within her first few days of life we were told that she would need scans every three months to screen for tumors. While adjusting to having a new little one, I never imagined that at the age of 4 months she would already have a mass. This mass turned out to be Neuroblastoma, and was removed along with her adrenal gland a month after it was found at Children's Hospital in Boston and her oncology follow up has been through Dana Farber's Jimmy Fund Clinic in Boston, MA. We have received amazing care, especially the preventative care that was able to pick up the cancer so early. Had we not had such excellent prevention early on, the likelihood of her being here and cancer free would not be likely. We still must have Grace scanned every three months until she is about 9, as her risk for further cancer is still quite high. The weight of that worry is high, but it makes us as Grace's parents and extended family grateful for the access we have to stellar health care and also grateful for each day she grows with us.
