I hate childhood cancer.
I’m not very fond of running.
I love Abby.
Abby was diagnosed with a rare form of childhood cancer called Ph acute lymphoblastic leukemia at age 4.
Four.
The time when you should be running outside jumping in muddy puddles, twirling around your kitchen in homemade tutus, and smiling, laughing, giggling like it’s your own secret language.
Age 4 and 5 and 6 were disrupted for Abby. These years were met with highs and lows. With needles, and chemo, and pills. With hospital stays instead of sleepover pillow fights.
I met Abby last year, and let me tell you, this girl is wise beyond her years. She’s spunky. She’s a dancer. She’s shy at first and then won’t leave your side. She rocks her pink helmet while she scooters and has a laugh that is contagious. Most of all, she has this strength that just radiates.
Now, why am I running to raise money? Because it’s a challenge, because I know Abby gave it her all for the last 2 ½ years, and because I know the money you help me raise for childhood cancer research WILL make a difference.
Research may not be the most glamorous thing to fundraise for, but it gets sh*t done. For Abby specifically, St. Baldrick’s-funded research helped improve her survival rate from approximately 30% to 70%. THAT is incredible, that is saving lives, and that is what this is all about.
Here's how it's gunna go down:
For every donation, I'll run 2 miles.
I’ll document your sponsored #runforabby on social media with a cool photo I take during the run (think epic mountain shot, running-kristen-selfie shot, or maybe shoe-of-the-day-treadmill shot).
Donations will go to the St. Baldrick's Foundation to help find cures for childhood cancers.
So let’s go. Click the "Donate" button above and GET ME RUNNING!
