Smiling Over Sickness (SOS) is a non-profit, charity organization run by the students in the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Ottawa. SOS directs community volunteerism and student energy with the goal of contributing to the lives of sick children fighting cancer. Each year we hold a number of charity events, the largest of which is Shave for a Cure. During the event, approximately 50 volunteers shave their heads to raise money and awareness for the Childhood Cancer Canada Foundation. Last year, with the help of various local organizations, corporations, businesses and community members, our event raised well over $60,000. Looking forward, we hope to maintain this support and to further community involvement as to surpass last year's total. This year, partnered with St. Baldrick's Foundation, we will be holding our 9th annual fundraising event at the Ottawa 67’s hockey game on February 24th, 2012. During the event, there are many interactive games for children and families as well as a silent auction, which raises a significant portion of our charitable funds. Crave the Shave!! Thank you all for your amazing support. Sincerely, SOS Bradley Sarak bsara034@uottawa.ca Pamela Lai plai088@uottawa.ca
