West Milford Conquers Cancer

Be a hero for kids with cancer! Join this St. Baldrick's event, and whether you decide to shave your head, volunteer, or donate, we hope you'll be a part of the excitement. The St. Baldrick's Foundation is a volunteer-driven charity that funds more in childhood cancer research grants than any organization except the U.S. government. Get involved and you'll be giving hope to infants, children, teens and young adults fighting childhood cancers. We are now going into our 4th year of hosting a Saint Baldricks Event, to date with your help we have raised over $71,530 to fund childhood cancer research. With our bar this year set at $28,470, it will put our total at over $100,000 for childhood cancer research. This is a huge number and it is something that we all can be very proud of. As you all know, more work needs to be done. As we go into 2014 sadly the fact is that more children are lost to cancer in the U.S. than any other disease—in fact, more than many other childhood diseases combined. Before they turn 20, about 1 in 300 boys and 1 in 333 girls will have cancer. The good news is that the hard work you have done by reaching out and collections donations for childhood cancer research has made a difference. In the 1950s, almost all kids diagnosed with cancer died. Because of research, today about 85% of kids with the most common type of cancer will live. As you clearly see much more work is needed so that survival rate number becomes 100%. We are asking for everyone who participated last year, to again reach out to family, friends and the community to donate, participate and to spread the word. This year’s event will again feature live music, free BBQ, family fun activities at one of the finest Fire Departments in New Jersey. The sad fact is 1 out of every 5 children diagnosed with cancer will not survive, every 3 minutes a parent is told their child has cancer, we must do better! Please join us in 2014 to FIND A CURE!!!

St. Baldrick’s Honored Kids

Kids with cancer are our reason for it all. They’re the inspiration behind our event and the reason we’re helping fund childhood cancer research. We believe all kids should be able to grow up and turn their dreams into realities. Join our event or make a donation, and click the photos below to read their incredible stories.
