Would you shave your head for a child? Participants in a St. Baldrick’s event shave their heads in exchange for donations towards research. It’s a simple concept, a fun time and a very effective fundraiser. Since 2000, the St. Baldrick's Foundation has raised over $108 million and shaved over 179,000 heads-- including 16,000 women. 10am: Opening Ceremonies, emceed by Deb Placey, and featuring St. Baldrick’s cofounder and Board member, John Bender. 10:45am - 1:30pm *The Total Look Salons and Academy will shave heads * Open Skate on Sound tigers ice (Must bring your own skates, no sticks allowed) * Family activities including face and head painting provided by Once Upon a Face Paint, Face Painting by Wells and Tattoos r us; Kids activities provided by Gymnastics & Cheerleading Academy of CT, United Athletic Centers, World Champion TaeKwonDo & We Sell Hoops; photos with members of The Galactic Empire from Star Wars. * Music by the band Vertigo. * Be the Match is sponsoring a bone marrow drive. All qualified attendees can fill out a form, have a cheek swab, and register to be in the Registry. Be The Match Registry services the 70% patients in need of a marrow transplant who do not have a matching donor in their family and need a matching unrelated donor. To register you must be between 18 and 60, in good health, and willing to donate to any patient you may match All family activities will end at 1:30. After our main St Baldrick's celebration, the Sound Tigers are playing Albany at 3pm. Doors open at 2pm. The Total Look Salons & Academy will shave heads through 2nd intermission for game attendees. The Sound Tigers are donating a free ticket to all shavees and bringing them onto the ice to be honored. Congratulations to raffle winners: Noah Mihaylo will be performing the ceremonial puck drop; Thomas Haviland & Max Shutze will be getting their heads shaved on the ice during 1st intermission; and Jack Doherty, Jeremy Page, Jack Hernandez, Matt Andronowitz, Jack Alecia, Jake McGurk, Mike McQuade and Brendon Soodek are honorary Sound Tigers Stick Kids of the game. Many thanks to Newtown Savings Bank for sponsoring baseball caps for each shavee, Success Printing for donating all printed materials, Trek Bicycle Shop for providing bags for the event, Nauti Dolphin pizzeria for donating their pizza boxes to help us spread the word - and to Snuggie, for donating their fabulous blanket with sleeves to the first 500 shavees! St. Baldrick’s Honored Kids

Kids with cancer are our reason for it all. They’re the inspiration behind our event and the reason we’re helping fund childhood cancer research. We believe all kids should be able to grow up and turn their dreams into realities. Join our event or make a donation, and click the photos below to read their incredible stories.
