In the US, more children die of childhood cancer than any other disease. Please make a donation on my behalf to support childhood cancer research so that all children diagnosed with cancer will have a better chance for a cure. To make a donation, click on "Make A Donation" or donate by mail or phone.
Thank you for your support!
The Portland/Vancouver 9th Annual St. Baldrick's event will once again be held at Oaks Park Dance Pavilion. You are encouraged to come early and enjoy a day of rides and games. Discount coupons will be available for $9.00 per person. We will have live music, food, face painting, clowns & balloons, raffels with lots of prizes including roundtrip airline tickets provided by Alaska Airlines, Danner Boots, Home Gym by Nautalis, Vouchure from Just Right Auto, IPad 2 and much more. There are gift cards to Bullwinkles, Gustavs, Olive Garden and many other local favorites.
This year we will have the Portland Timbers Mascot, Timber Joey shaving. We have already reached 264 shavees and are certainly on track to break 300. In fact Portland's Mayor Sam Adams has decided to join so many other heroes in the area to shave his head. That is right Portland's Mayor will shave his head along with so many others like you! Ask someone today to join our event and help us grow to to one of the top 10 events in the country.
IT IS JUST HAIR!
Last year we raised over $133,000 for The St. Baldrick's Foundation and this year we are setting the goal even higher. Join early and encourage others to join with you. Start a team, get co-workers or classmates to join your team. Have your family members sign up with you.
Help us make this the best year for St. Baldrick's!
Here are some very valuable statitistics to read.
The 5-year survival rates for Childhood Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia (ALL) ages 0-19:
1950s = 3% 1970s = 50% 1990s = 80% currently = ~90%
We have ~10% to go! This is only for ALL but there are other great stories. The only ways this happens is by funding research. The current rate of ~90% only happened because funds were raised/contributed 5,10,20 years ago. St. Baldrick's is a leader in making this happen.
We thank you for your support and for taking the time to read our page.
Please take a moment and read some of the Children's wepages we sponsor and consider joining our event.
