Basin Electric’s St. Baldrick’s campaign started with a spark of inspiration when Ted Cash’s wife, Emily, heard about St. Baldrick’s. She wanted to shave her head, but Ted decided to shave instead. He wondered, though, if this was something Basin Electric would consider?
Ted’s boss, Mike Eggl, loved the idea, but he wanted five willing heads to raise $10,000.
Mission accomplished … well, actually, mission blown away.
What started as a goal to raise $10,000 and shave five heads has exploded into a money-raising, hair-shaving frenzy with national awards for our events and tremendous media attention. In the past five years, participants have raised an astounding $750,000+ and more than 800 people have shaved. Our small event is now a multi-state campaign. Sister organizations, community partners, citizens, and honorees and their families have grown this event into one of St. Baldrick’s top events. We’ve been honored to meet many beautiful kids and become friends with their families. We’ve seen success stories and witnessed heartbreaking news. Each year we honor those beautiful faces.
Basin Electric’s CEO and General Manager Andrew M. Serri carries our St. Baldrick’s legacy forward and is determined to grow our campaign even more.
