What's happening in the world- wide St. Baldricks community?
Click here to find out »Sometimes the number 13 is considered to be unlucky one but not when it comes to raising $13 million for childhood cancer research. That's right, as of March 21 St. Baldrick's amazing volunteers and shavees have raised more than $13 million for childhood cancer research! In 2009, St. Baldrick's had raised $13 million by April 24 which means that we are now more than a month ahead of last year! Woo-hoo!
In addition to having raised more than $13 million, we are also surpassing some incredible St. Baldrick's statistics. We currently have more than 645 events taking place in 44 states and 9 countries, that is more events than ever before! With more than 3,000 brave female shavees registered, we also have more female shavees than any year in our 10 year history! St. Baldrick's is having an incredible year and it would be impossible without the support of our heroic volunteers, shavees, and donors, so thank you!
Here to celebrate $13 million raised is 2010 Child Ambassador Zoe and some of her furry hospital companions. When Zoe is being treated at Children's Hospital of Orange County, she enjoys some fun-filled visits with these Collies. The two Collies are part of the hospital's pet therapy program that brings dogs to visit children throughout the hospital. On Monday, Zoe will be serving as an Honored Kid at the Bell Tower Foundation Community Center event in Rancho Santa Margarita, CA. Also on Monday, Zoe's mom, Suzanne, will be shaving her head with some other members of Team Z-Pack. Zoe is really looking forward to the event and is so excited to see her mom bald again! To donate to Suzanne, follow this link.
To make 2010 our biggest year yet, we need more than 40,000 shavees, so everyone is encouraged to do their part to support the cause. To locate or organize an event in your community, sign-up to shave, donate, or volunteer, visit www.StBaldricks.org. They say that things are better by the dozen and a million dollars is no different. Thanks to everyone who has donated their hard earned dimes and dollars, we have raised over an incredible $12 million!
Jonas Brothers’ bass guitarist Greg “Garbo” Garbowsky will volunteer as a Celebrity Barber on March 20 at the LAPD/LAFD St. Baldrick’s head-shaving event in Panorama City, CA.
