YOU DID IT!

June 2, 2010 YOU DID IT!

Congratulations, you did it! In only 152 days, the St. Baldrick’s community has raised over $20 million for pediatric cancer research – a new record in the history of the childhood cancer movement!

“To raise $20 million in one year is an amazing accomplishment but to raise $20 million in under six months is absolutely incredible,” says Kathleen Ruddy, executive director for the St. Baldrick’s Foundation.  “This feat is 100% due to the courageous men, women and children who shave their heads, volunteer their time, and generous donors who make childhood cancer research possible.  Our supporters are the most passionate and committed volunteers I’ve ever known, and without their perseverance and dedication, the future for children with cancer would not be as hopeful. Much work remains, but the kids the St. Baldrick’s community endeavors to save, realize they have a mighty army on their side. That army won’t stop working for a cure until each child can be assured a healthy future.”

As of June 2, St. Baldrick’s total funds raised surmounted to $19.9 million; however, a generous donation from corporate sponsor Markit brought the total to over $20 million. Markit is a leading, global financial information services company. The company provides independent data, valuations and trade processing across all asset classes in order to enhance transparency, reduce risk, and improve operational efficiency. Markit has proven to be a wonderful supporter and St. Baldrick’s looks forward to a long relationship with them in the future.

Even with the 2010 goal reached, the head-shaving fun doesn’t end.  The more funds raised, the more life-saving research will be funded. The action continues going strong, with more than 45 events planned for the rest of the year and there’s still time to get involved! To
