St. Baldrick’s Foundation is proud to announce that Heather DeLong of Seattle, Wash. has been selected as the Foundation’s 2010 t-shirt contest design winner. The contest sought original designs for St. Baldrick’s 2010 t-shirts, which will be worn over the year by more than 35,000 shavees, volunteers, families and friends at St. Baldrick’s head-shaving events throughout the world. The designs of the two runners-up, Dusty Shutt of Colorado Springs, Colo. and Rick Sena of Albuquerque, N.M. will have their submissions featured on select t-shirts available through the Foundation’s CaféPress online store.

DeLong, a professional designer, first became acquainted with the Foundation’s cause through her husband, Jay, a two-time shavee and event organizer. Her design features the St. Baldrick’s leprechaun mascot, Lucky, along with a tagline of ‘Grow It. Shave It. Beat It.’ “My husband has been shaving his head for the past two years, I really wanted to create a design that emphasized the St. Baldrick’s message of shaving heads to beat kids’ cancer,” said DeLong.

The contest began in late October, and encouraged St. Baldrick’s supporters to submit one-of-a-kind creative featuring the St. Baldrick’s logo and their own design. The Foundation received dozens of unique entries that were narrowed down by an internal review committee to a final four. The final four designs were judged and the winner selected by a group of St. Baldrick’s Honored Families, veteran event organizers and shavees. In addition to having her design featured on the 2010 t-shirts, DeLong will also receive a framed t-shirt and a tote bag, bearing her design.
