Give yourself and everyone around you a high-five in celebration of raising $5 million for childhood cancer research and giving hope to children diagnosed with cancer, children just like Austin.
Austin, one of the five St. Baldrick’s 2012 Ambassador Kids, was diagnosed with cancer in both kidneys at just 10 months old. He is now 5 years old and cancer-free. The journey to get here was not an easy one for Austin and his family. After his diagnosis he endured eight months of chemotherapy and four abdominal surgeries before being declared cancer-free. But one year later, the cancer had returned and Austin underwent six more months of treatment and the removal of one-and-a-half kidneys.
“Austin would never have reached age 5 if it weren't for the tireless work and research done by doctors and scientists, like those funded by St Baldrick's. For the next five years and beyond, we thank them and all of you.” - Krissy and Mark, parents to Austin.
