Whether you've signed up for St. Baldrick's this year or you're still thinking about it, here are a few tips to make the most of your experience.
Start With a Goal:
Decide on a fundraising goal you can reach easily, stretch it some, then ask friends and family to help you go for it. Remember: You're doing this for some very special kids!
Get the Word Out:
Send emails or snail mail, announce it at your church or clubs, hang a sign in your office, spread the word through Facebook or Twitter. Make sure everyone knows you're raising money for childhood cancer research and ask for their support!
Think Outside the Box:
Challenge someone else to see who can raise the most. Get extra donations to dye your hair green before the event. Charge $5 to touch your bald noggin afterward. Stumped for creative ideas? Put some kids to work on it!
Make it Personal:
Tell everyone why it's important to you to raise money for childhood cancer research. Post a personal message and photos on your St. Baldrick's web page. Choose a child to honor, and the cause will come alive.
Give Your Donors Some Love:
Invite them to your event. Send your before and after photos in a thank you note--adding a photo of the child you're honoring. And later this year, when you hear where the money is going, pass the information along to your donors so they can feel proud with you.
Raising money for childhood cancer research is serious cause- and you can have some serious fun doing it!
