St. Baldrick’s Foundation Launches letsCONQUER Movement
Celebrities Including Ron Perlman, Joelle Carter, Carter Oosterhouse, Andrea Roth and Jerry Ferrara Lend Their Support
LOS ANGELES (August 20, 2010) – The St. Baldrick’s Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to raising money for childhood cancer research, introduces the letsCONQUER movement. The initiative provides a new and creative platform for supporters and advocates to voice their passion for the Foundation’s cause to Conquer Kids’ Cancer.
More than a dozen actors, athletes, public figures and supporters including Rachel Smith (Miss USA 2007), Theo Rossi (Sons of Anarchy) and Paul Johansson (One Tree Hill) are uniting to bring attention to the startling realities of childhood cancer and to support the St. Baldrick’s Foundation’s efforts to raise funds for life-saving research. The first of a series of celebrity-driven videos, showcasing heartfelt and compelling support for the movement while delivering a resounding call to action, launched today on letsCONQUER.org. The letsCONQUER movement, launched in advance of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, will provide a yearlong focus on the need to find a cure for children suffering through the ravages of cancer.
“Every St. Baldrick’s supporter is critical to making this movement a success,” says Kathleen Ruddy, executive director for the St. Baldrick’s Foundation. “We encourage everyone to embrace letsCONQUER as their movement, because it takes awareness about childhood cancer to raise the funds and ultimately find a cure.”
Since 2000, St. Baldrick’s has raised approximately $90 million by hosting more than 3,100 head-shaving events and shaving more than 143,000 heads. letsCONQUER offers new ways to get involved with the Foundation, outside of its signature head-shaving events, and stand in support of kids with cancer. St. Baldrick’s supporters can help spread the word by sharing these letsCONQUER videos with their social networks through Facebook and Twitter.
Of course you can shave your head and still be part of letsCONQUER! To locate or organize an event in your community, sign-up to shave, donate or volunteer, visit www.StBaldricks.org.
