$10 Million

March 14, 2010 $10 Million

It's time to celebrate! St. Baldrick's volunteers have now raised more than $10 million for pediatric cancer research.  St. Baldrick's would like to send an enormous thank you hug to all of our incredible volunteers who have helped us get to this point.  Last year we had raised $10 million by March 27, which means that we are almost two weeks ahead of last year!  In addition to having raised $10 million, we have more than 27,000 shavees who will be shaving a 631 events in 43 states and 9 countries! This week alone we have more than 335 events taking place, that's 160 more than this week last year.  Now with that many events this week, who wants to guess when we will hit our next million?

To make 2010 our biggest year yet, we need more than 40,000 shavees, so everyone is encouraged to do their part to support the cause.  To locate or organize an event in your community, sign-up to shave, donate, or volunteer, visit www.StBaldricks.org.  You can also become a Fan on Facebook, follow @StBaldricks on Twitter and visit the St. Baldrick's YouTube Channel.

The picture for $10 million depicts 10 of 2010 Ambassador Child Averi's stuffed animals.  Averi loved to collect stuffed animals and these were some of her favorites.  In memory of Averi, who passed away on March 12, 2009, her father, Eddie, and some of her uncles shaved their heads on March 13 at the Waterside Festival Marketplace in Norfolk, VA.  As of Sunday morning, the event has raised over $89,400.  As we celebrate $10 million raised, please remember Averi and the other children around the world who have lost their battles with cancer.
