The St. Baldrick's Foundation would like to congratulate, long-time St. Baldrick's volunteer and supporter, Arlene Sanchez, on being selected as a 2010 New Mexico Humanitarian Award Honoree!

Over the last eight years, Arlene has dedicated her time as a volunteer event organizer for the Foundation. Her compassion for others, dedication to the cause and hard work has been a blessing to the St. Baldrick's Foundation as she continues to be a leader in her community and a voice for childhood cancer research. This year, the 8th Annual ABQ Main Event UNM Children's Hospital, raised over $87,000 for research, exceeding their goal of $75,000!

Arlene's passion for the cause comes from her personal experience with childhood cancer. Her daughter and St. Baldrick's Honored Kid, Seneca, 14, was diagnosed with adamantinoma at 6 years old and because of advances in research, Arlene can happily say her daughter is now cancer free!

The 2010 New Mexico Humanitarian Awards, presented by the Jewish Community Center of Greater Albuquerque, is a distinguished recognition program born from the desire to raise awareness of the spirit of humanity and to inspire individuals, organizations, and businesses to pursue humanitarian goals. These awards honor those who have embodied an outstanding spirit of humanity in a local, national, or international capacity.

St. Baldrick's applauds Arlene on being selected for such an honor and recognizes her as an inspiration to others!
